Meizu, the Chinese brand known for their controversial designs that closely resemble a certain product from Cupertino, has announced a recent Android smartphone called the Meizu MX. Named after the first two letters from the Chinese characters of the word "dream" or "meng xiang", the Meizu MX is their first dual-core smartphone.

Specifications include a 4-inch, 960 x 640 resolution ASV display, 1.4Giga Hertz (GHz) dual-core Samsung Exynos processor, 1GB RAM, 16GB built-in memory, 8 megapixel capturing camera with 1080p video recording, Video Graphics Array (VGA) front camera, Bluetooth, WI-Fi, A-GPS, HSPA+ connectivity and a 1,600mAh battery. The phone will be running on Android 2.3.5 but will acquire the Ice Cream Sandwich update soon.

The 16GB version will be available on January 1, 2012 (32GB will arrive later) and will be priced at 2,999 CNY ($471).
