DOWNLOAD MP3: BlackBerry 10 Developer Alpha Unit Goes Official

RIM is hosting its annual BlackBerry World event between May 1-3. Today, on the first day of the event, RIM presented the official developer alpha device for the QNX-based BlackBerry 10 platform.

It looks much like a smaller PlayBook and features a 4.2-inch 1280x768px display, 1GB RAM, 16GB internal storage, a microSD expansion slot and a mini-HDMI port. There is still no info on the classy screen type or the processor, but we guess the latter should be a dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 or better.

We expect the first BlackBerry 10 smartphone to see much like the developer's unit.

Engadacquire managed to snap some hands-on pictures of the device. Unfortunately there are no actual pictures of the recent BlackBerry 10 platform, since the thingy ran on PlayBook Operating System (OS) 2.0.

The recent capturing camera app will have the so-called timeline feature – when you hold a picture and you’ve missed the moment you would be able to access the capturing camera cache where you can extract the correct shot (this means the capturing camera will hold some shots even before you hit the shutter).
